Back Pain During Pregnancy: Consult Your
Doctor
A pregnant woman will undoubtedly experience back pain during
the course of her preparation for her new baby. The back pain
is usually attributed to the new weight she must now carry.
This back pain during pregnancy can leave the woman bedridden
for one of more days. This is the time when the woman is
preparing for the new arrival, while she’s more than likely
also working. If back pain during pregnancy is debilitating
your life, such as causing you to miss work or it’s just
leaving you bedridden and unable to do most tasks you’re used
to doing, it’s time to consult your doctor. Your doctor will
let you know of ways to combat your back pain during pregnancy
while also keeping your baby safe.
The Baby Comes First
Sometimes, the back pain during pregnancy is so bad that the
woman will want to do anything to get rid of it. This usually
amounts to going to the store to buy some medicine or some
other common pain reliever. However, the woman should be
careful as most medicines are not recommended for use by
pregnant woman. This is for fear that the medicine will harm
the unborn baby. The woman’s suffering may be bad, but it’s
nothing when compared to the health of the person she’s now
carrying inside of her. Back pain during pregnancy should be
alleviated, but not at the cost of the unborn child. The baby
comes first and that’s why it’s so important to consult your
doctor before you head to the drug store.
Your doctor will tell you the reasons behind your back pain
during pregnancy and will offer some healthy alternatives to
medicine that will protect both you and the child. The doctor
may suggest that, to combat back pain during pregnancy, to take
long, hot baths or to use a heating pad while laying on the
couch or in bed. The doctor may even prescribe an occasional
massage by the woman’s significant other, if there is one. Who
wouldn’t like that alternative to medicine?
Back pain during pregnancy may feel like the end of the world,
but it will go away eventually. It’s most important to think of
the health of the baby and use caution when trying to look for
alternatives to medicine. The best idea is to ask your doctor
the steps you should take to alleviate your back pain, once and
for all.
